Grid Integration
Power grids that produce electricity still rely on fossil fuel because they are designed for its use. Now power grids are failing, particularly in Nigeria and other parts of Africa where power is sometimes available for only a few hours a day. This puts a great strain on homes, businesses, hospitals and government centers. Many businesses and homes use generators to supplement grid output and in a majority of cases they rely on generators for their every day power needs.
Generator power is important as an adjunct to on-grid power and as a solid backup system, but with renewable energy like solar and wind power, impractical as a long-term solution for supporting communities, businesses and governments.
Solar Point Africa is devoted to supporting off-grid solutions, buttressing on-grid solutions when necessary and employing hybrid solutions that blend both on-grid and off-grid power when practical.
